Calming Powder is a high-specification complementary feed for all horses, formulated to provide support during periods of travel, competition or other potentially challenging situations, without causing drowsiness or affecting normal activity.
It combines a carefully selected blend of amino acids, herbs, and vitamins including L-Tyrosine, L-Arginine and B vitamins which contribute to the normal functioning of the nervous system and support overall wellbeing.
These ingredients are particularly useful when horses are exposed to unfamiliar or stimulating environments. This versatile formula can be used daily or introduced ahead of known changes in routine. It may also be fed alongside Calming Cookies® for further support.
Key Ingredients:
L-Tyrosine
A precursor to dopamine, adrenaline and noradrenaline wihch are neurotransmitters involved in focus, alertness and emotional balance. L-Tyrosine supports the horse’s ability to stay attentive and responsive, without becoming overstimulated.
L-Arginine
A nitric oxide precursor which plays a role in learning, memory and blood flow regulation. L-Arginine is also involved in immune function and cellular signalling.
L-Cysteine
An amino acid that supports and aids antioxidants.
Vitamin C & Vitamin E
Antioxidants that support the nervous system and play a role in supporting the horse during periods of excitement or exertion.
B Vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6)
B vitamins contribute to energy metabolism, nerve function, and psychological balance.
- B1 (Thiamine): Used in calming supplements for its role in nerve transmission.
- B6 (Pyridoxine): Involved in neurotransmitter synthesis and amino acid metabolism.
- B3 (Nicotinamide) and B5 (Pantothenic Acid): Support adrenal function and energy release.
Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate
Contains antioxidant properties to help neutralise free radicals and also supports the nervous system.
Peppermint Leaf Powder
Naturally palatable and traditionally used to support digestion and soothe the gut which can be sensitive during stress.
Fenugreek
A naturally sweet, aromatic herb that supports palatability and may contribute to digestive comfort.
Soya Flour (NGMO) and Flax Seed
Provide a base rich in protein and omega-3 fatty acids which support overall wellbeing.
Sodium Chloride
Included to support electrolyte balance and palatability.
Instructions for Use:
1 scoop (30ml) = 18g
Loading Rate (5–10 Days):
- Under 500kg: ¾ scoop twice daily
- 500–600kg: 1 scoop twice daily
- Over 600kg: 2 scoops twice daily
Maintenance Rate:
- Under 500kg: ¾ scoop once daily
- 500–600kg: 1 scoop once daily
- Over 600kg: 2 scoops once daily
Mix with feed. May also be syringed by mixing with a small amount of water. Do not pre-mix. Can be fed alongside Calming Cookies® for further support.
